What you can find at Hance Park

Hance Park is home to Arizona Humanities, Burton Barr Central Library, Cutler Plotkin Jewish Heritage Center, Irish Cultural Center, Japanese Friendship Garden, and Phoenix Center for the Arts. Around the 32-acre park are numerous other cultural, historic, dining, education, entertainment, and residential amenities. Throughout the year, a wide variety of special events and activities occur. It is also a perfect place to take a walk, ride a bike, play at the playground, or take your dog to the off-leash dog park.

Amenities & location

Amenities at the park include drinking fountains, grills, reservable ramadas, a playground, two dog parks, restrooms, walking paths, and a lighted sand volleyball court. The park is a short walk from the Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Theatre, Great American Puppet Theater, Roosevelt Row Arts District, and Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix Campus. To reserve a ramada or volleyball court or to plan an event, contact the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department at 602-534-2407.

The park spans from 5th Avenue to 3rd Street, just south of McDowell Road. To find driving directions to the park, use one of these addresses: 1134 N. Central Avenue (between 5th Avenue and 3rd Street), West side of Park (67 W. Culver Street), or East side of Park (1202 N. 3rd Street).
